Cut Down On These Foods If You’re Scared Of Breaking Out

If you’ve ever heard of the saying “you are what you eat” and just brushed it off, you’re in for a rude awakening. The truth is, no matter how much money you spend on skincare and treatments, if you’re not wary about what you put inside your body, you won’t get the results you’re looking for.

At the end of the day, skin health has to start from within. Whatever junk you eat is going to eventually show on your body. Though there are a bunch of factors that cause acne, food is one of the major ones.

If you’re scared of breaking out, you might want to start cutting down on all the good-tasting things in life. It sucks, but it has to be done.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but cheese has always been problematic as far as skin is concerned. Many studies have linked dairy to severity of acne among teenagers.

Two studies found that people who consumed milk or ice cream regularly are four times more likely to get acne. There’s a bit of good news though—studies were only conducted among teens and therefore can’t be 100% conclusive. But even if it’s not 100%, there’s still evidence that it affects skin so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Refined carbs

Tragically, when food tastes ridiculously good, it’s probably bad for you. Refined grains or carbs are found in foods like cookies, cakes, breads, and other snacks.

Yes, we know it’s heartbreaking, but like Lizzo said… truth hurts.

Studies suggest that because these foods cause a spike in blood sugar, it increases your insulin levels which in turn lead to breakouts. Yikes. Cutting down on pastries might not be a piece of cake

Saturated fats

Craving for fast food? Not so fast.

Fried chicken, burgers, fries, and the like—you need to say bye-bye to them if you want clear skin. Several studies show that people who have a diet with high saturated fat have more incidents of breakouts.

More research and experiments have yet to be done for this to be completely true but even if it’s not for the sake of skin, cut down for the sake of your overall health.

Sugary drinks

If you’re a soda lover, get ready to be heartbroken.

We all know that sodas and other sweet drinks are all fructose and no nutrients. Fructose is a sugar and as we already know by now, sugar spikes insulin levels.

Insulin is the culprit for pimples, but don’t act so surprised. The sooner you cut down your soda intake, the better. You know what you can drink to make your skin better instead? Water. Don’t underestimate the power of H2O—it’s sugar-free, zero calories, and non-fat.

Say sayonara to sweet drinks, say hello to blemish-free skin.
