When it come to lipstick, Maybelline cracked the formula on how to deliver both affordability and quality. I’ve never been mum about my love for the Superstay Matte Ink line, so my excitement was through the roof when they announced they’d be releasing a new variation—the Superstay Ink Crayon.
Unlike the Matte Ink, the Ink Crayon doesn’t claim to last all day. They only promise an 8 hour wear, so the Swatchery girls and I had to put that to the test.
We wore the lipsticks through a typical work day—lunch and merienda included!—and though the lipstick wasn’t as budge-proof as it’s predecesor, it lasted longer than any traditional lipstick I’ve ever donned.
I’d say it’s a good median between a creamy, traditional lipstick and a long wear liquid lip, so if you hate liquid lipsticks, maybe this is the one for you.
So far, they’ve released 8 colors that are perfect for every day wear. There’s a good balance of reds, corals, berries, and browns, which is pretty standard for any new Maybelline release.
The first thing that sets the Ink Crayon apart from traditional lipsticks would be the sharp tip. I’m a big fan of precision, especially when it comes to darker lipsticks, so having an edge that’s literally made for that is a big plus!
The second would be the built-in sharpener that minimizes product waste, so you don’t have to feel bad when you need to shave a little off the top. Bye-bye, lip liner.
